Overview

When adidas set out to establish a flagship retail presence along the Lekki Waterside corridor, the brief was unambiguous: deliver an internationally aligned retail environment that could hold its own against any adidas store in the world, and do it in Lagos.

‍

ONL Estates took on the project in full, managing design coordination, technical delivery, and fit-out execution across a 2,300 sqm waterside site in Lekki Phase One. The result is one of the most compelling retail developments in Lagos; a space that sells a product and an experience.

The Brief

The client needed a destination that reflected the adidas brand globally while feeling rooted in the energy of Lagos. The development had to integrate premium retail with a hospitality component, meet international fit-out standards, and be delivered on a waterside site.

‍

The Build

The development encompasses a fully fitted flagship adidas retail outlet alongside an Eric Kayser café situated on an extended waterside deck at the rear of the property. Retail and hospitality are distinct in experience but unified in quality, creating a destination that draws visitors for more than one reason.

‍

Interior and exterior installations were specified and delivered to international brand standards. Key features include bespoke ceiling designs, curtain wall glazing, façade finishes, contemporary external signage, and custom retail fixtures and fittings. Every element carefully considered for how it would feel to a customer walking through the door.

‍

Underpinning it all is a fully integrated MEP infrastructure: high-efficiency HVAC, structured cabling, advanced lighting systems, and fire protection installations, all coordinated seamlessly with the architectural and structural framework so that nothing gets in the way of the experience.

‍

The Challenges

Delivering to international brand standards in Lagos is not without its complexities. Imported finishes and branded retail components require meticulous procurement planning and supply chain management. Delays in one element can cascade across an entire fit-out schedule.

‍

The integration of a retail flagship and a waterside hospitality venue within a single development also demanded careful spatial planning and coordination between architectural, structural, and MEP teams. Every system had to serve both environments without compromise.

‍

ONL managed these moving parts through rigorous programme oversight, proactive procurement, and tight coordination between all consultants and contractors on site, keeping the project on track and the finish on standard.

‍

Why It Matters

adidas Lekki stands as a benchmark for premium retail development in Nigeria. It demonstrates what's possible when international ambition meets disciplined local execution. It is a fully operational, globally aligned flagship that has strengthened adidas' presence and commercial performance in one of Lagos' most desirable corridors.

‍

It is proof that ONL can take a complex brief, manage it end-to-end, and deliver an environment that performs as well as it looks.
